The Day He Became King
It was raining heavily that night. The kind of rain that felt different, like the sky knew something terrible was about to happen. Like the world could feel a shift coming. Like nature itself was mourning before the people could. That night, everything changed for the Daegara Kingdom.
The royal palace was silent. There were no horns to announce loss. No funeral march echoing through the halls. Just the cold wind brushing against the broken windows, ashes falling slowly from the sky, and the strong smell of fire still trapped in the air.
In the middle of the royal war room, Yoongi stood alone.
He was only eighteen years old-the crowned prince of the kingdom. But right now, he didn't look like a prince at all. His royal robe was soaked in rain and stained with blood. His hands were still shaking slightly from the weight of his sword. His face was cold. But his eyes... his eyes were red. Not from tears, but from pain and fury. They burned with something sharp-like power mixed with revenge.
He stood there without speaking. He looked like someone who had lost too much in a single night and turned to stone before the world could see him break.
Inside, Yoongi was feeling a strange kind of emptiness. Not just because he had lost his father-but because it felt like the entire kingdom had become fatherless. Just like him. The Daegara Kingdom was now orphaned.
He could feel it in the walls, in the halls, in the sky. And deep inside, he knew-his people needed a king. They needed him. Even if he wasn't ready. Even if his heart still hadn't accepted what had happened.
A soldier entered the room quietly. His steps were careful, respectful, like he didn't want to disturb the storm that was silently building inside the prince. He bowed low and spoke softly.
"Your Highness... the army awaits your order."
Yoongi didn't answer.
He kept his eyes on the large war map spread across the table in front of him. His hands, covered in cuts and bruises, were clenched into tight fists. His knuckles were pale. His arms were tense. His body was still, but his mind was screaming.
His eyes were tired, his body hurt damn much but he choose not i shed single tear.
He could still hear his father's voice on the battlefield. That moment when the king fell, and Yoongi had run to him, dropping to his knees beside the man who had taught him everything.
"Protect them, Yoongi," his father had whispered. "No matter what."
Those were his last words. And now, they were stuck in Yoongi's head, playing again and again like a broken loop. They echoed in his ears louder than the thunder outside.
Yoongi knew what he had to do.
He knew that even though he needed his father more than ever, there were thousands of people out there who now needed him. He couldn't be the son anymore. He had to become the father. The protector. The king.
The war had stolen everything from him. His childhood. His peace. His last chance to feel safe. It had taken his father away in the most brutal way. But it had left him with one final choice-to run from the crown or to rise with it.
And Min Yoongi... didn't run.
He breathed in deeply, turned away from the map, and walked out of the war room with steady, determined steps. His back was straight. His eyes were sharper now. Every step he took sounded louder in the hallway, like even the palace itself could feel the shift in power.
He entered the great hall, where all the generals, ministers, and royal court members were already waiting. They had all heard the news. They had seen the smoke. They had felt the loss. But when Yoongi walked in, they didn't ask questions.
He had sword in hand, the same sword he carried in battlefield with his father. The sword returned but his father's breath stayed on the same battlefield.
They all bowed.
Because they knew-without a crown on his head or a ceremony to announce it-he was already their king.
And as he stood there, still soaked in blood and rain, many of them noticed how much he looked like his father. Like the great King Min Dong had been reborn in his son's body. The same strong jaw. The same sharp eyes. The same unshakable silence.
Somewhere there his younger brother, Taehyung, who was barely 16 was standing while crying. And younger sister, Arin, who was younger than both, just a child she was clinging to Taehyung.
The wife of the late king, the queen she wasn't there, she must be crying somewhere hearing news about the king's death. Yoongi knew right now he had to choose kingdom before his mother.
The sky outside was still gray. The heavy rain had stopped, but the dark clouds remained, hanging low over the kingdom. It felt like the storm hadn't passed-it had only changed form. It had entered the palace, and taken the shape of a young king.
Min Yoongi.
He didn't speak a word.
But the world knew-the throne now belonged to him.
Yoongi stepped forward slowly, his boots echoing softly against the stone floor as he made his way toward the stone platform. The one where kings stood. Where his father once stood to speak to the people. Now, it was his turn.
He was only eighteen. Still young. Still new to the weight that was already pressing down on his shoulders. His hands trembled slightly as they hung at his sides-but his voice didn't shake. Not even once.
"Our king is gone," he said, his eyes locked straight ahead. His voice was calm, but every word landed heavy in the silent hall. "And I will not cry. Not because I do not love him... but because I do."
The crowd stirred at his words. Whispers floated through the great hall. Some looked down, unable to meet his gaze. Others stared at him, wide-eyed, as if seeing the beginning of something that would be remembered forever.
"I am Min Yoongi," he continued. "And from this moment on, I am not a boy. I am not a prince. I am your king."
He stepped forward and placed his blood-streaked sword upon the stone altar before him.
The metal struck the ancient stone with a, echoing sound.
Fresh blood still clung to the blade, slowly dripping onto the cold stone beneath it.
The sword had returned from battle.
And so had its king. The only difference was that the old king died and the new king was born in the same place.
His voice grew stronger.
"I will not rule with golden crowns or sweet promises," he said. "I will rule with my power and silence. Promises are meant to be broken. So, i won't promise anything."
"I will not ask for loyalty," he added. "I will earn it."
A minister stepped forward hesitantly. His voice was shaky, his movements unsure, but he tried to speak.
"Your Majesty... you're still young. You can let the court guide-"
Yoongi raised his hand.
The man stopped speaking instantly. Not just because of the raised hand-but because of Yoongi's eyes. They held that same quiet power. The same fire his father once had. And now, it was clear.
He was the king.
Yoongi turned to face the entire hall once more. His voice dropped lower, calmer, but every word was razor-sharp.
"I do not need guidance," he said. "I do not need a throne to be king."
"I gave myself to this kingdom the moment my father fell."
He stepped down from the platform slowly, the sound of his boots echoing once more, heavier this time. He walked to the center of the room, where the generals and ministers stood.
Then he dropped to one knee.
His head bowed. One hand over his chest, right over his heart.
"From this day on, I belong to Daegara," he said softly. "My blood is Daegara's. My breath is Daegara's. My soul is Daegara's."
And for a moment, no one moved.
Then, one soldier kneeled. Then another. And another.
Soon, the entire army dropped to their knees behind him. Ministers followed. Even the oldest generals-men who had once fought beside his father-bowed their heads.
No trumpets were blown. No crown was placed.
But in that quiet moment, and no celebration, Min Yoongi gave himself to the kingdom.
He wasn't ruler who wanted power, he was soldier who became father to his kingdom.

The Kingdom of Daegara
Daegara was the largest and most powerful kingdom on the continent.
Surrounded by towering mountains and vast forests, the kingdom was protected by nature long before its massive stone walls were ever built. The only roads leading inside were heavily guarded, making it nearly impossible for enemy armies to invade.
Yet beyond those walls lay a kingdom unlike what outsiders imagined.
The capital was lively and breathtaking. Wide stone streets bustled with merchants, craftsmen, and travelers from every corner of the continent. Colorful banners fluttered above busy markets where precious gems, fine silks, spices, and handcrafted goods were traded every day. Beautiful gardens bloomed throughout the city, while magnificent fountains and grand buildings reflected the kingdom's wealth.
Daegara wasn't only rich.
It was well disciplined.
Its people believed that every task, no matter how small, deserved honesty and dedication. Farmers cared for their fields with pride. Blacksmiths forged weapons strong enough to last generations. Soldiers trained from sunrise until dusk, not because war was constant, but because protecting their homeland was considered the greatest honor.
Everywhere in the kingdom stood statues of heroes who had given their lives defending Daegara. They reminded the people that the peace they enjoyed today had been earned through sacrifice.
Above the royal palace, enormous banners bearing a sword wrapped in flames swayed proudly in the wind.. the symbol of Daegara's strength and resilience.
Kingdoms across the continent admired Daegara's prosperity.
They respected its wealth.
But what they feared most... was its military power.
No kingdom possessed a larger army.
No fortress was better defended. No ruler was more respected than King Min Yoongi.
After he ascended the throne, Daegara became stronger than ever before. Trade flourished, the borders remained secure, and enemy kingdoms thought twice before starting a war they knew they couldn't win.
The people trusted their king completely.
Whenever he rode through the capital, they bowed with sincere respect.. not because they feared punishment, but because they believed their kingdom was safest under his rule.
When danger approached Daegara...
No one questioned who would stand at the front.
They already knew. Min Yoongi.
The king whose calm presence inspired confidence in his people and caution in his enemies.
As long as he ruled...
Daegara remained unconquered.
