Chapter 41

AUTHOR'S POV

Namjoon's eyes landed on Yoongi, who was still sitting on the couch... literally glaring at him without even trying to hide it.

"Now tell me, hyung?" Jimin asked impatiently, unable to hide his curiosity. Namjoon had looked far too excited since the moment he arrived, and Jimin was dying to know what had happened.

The two of them walked toward the living room before sitting beside Jungkook.

The moment Namjoon sat down...

Yoongi quietly got to his feet.

"I'll be back," he muttered before walking outside without sparing Namjoon another glance.

Namjoon watched him leave before looking back at Jimin.

"He is living here?" he asked. "That's actually a good thing."

"Yeah..." Jimin nodded, unable to stop the smile that naturally appeared on his lips. "Honestly, I never thought he would come back here... but I'm happy he did."

Namjoon looked at him for a few seconds before chuckling.

"I can see that."

His teasing smile only grew wider.

"You don't even have to say you're happy anymore. Your face has been saying it since I walked in."

Jimin immediately looked away. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Sure..." Namjoon laughed before shaking his head.

"Now stop changing the topic," Jimin said, nudging his shoulder. "What were you so excited to tell me?"

Even Jungkook leaned forward.

"Yeah, hyung. You literally hugged him at the door. Tell us already."

Namjoon couldn't hold back his grin anymore.

"So..." He purposely paused for a second. "My boyfriend is finally coming."

The excitement in his voice was impossible to miss.

Jungkook dramatically leaned back against the couch, placing both hands behind his head.

"Someone is completely whipped," he teased. "Look at people in love. I thought something serious happened."

"Jin hyung is coming?" Jimin's eyes widened in surprise. "Really?"

"Not just for three or four days," Namjoon said, practically glowing with happiness. "There's a high chance they're shifting back here permanently."

Jimin was surprised. "You mean..."

He looked at Namjoon in disbelief.

"Professor David... Aura... Jin hyung... and his mother... all of them are moving back to Korea?"

"YES!" Namjoon almost shouted before laughing.

"I'm so fucking happy. Finally... no more long-distance relationship. Do you know how exhausting it is to count months instead of days before meeting the person you love?"

Jimin couldn't help smiling after seeing him this happy.

"At least thank me," he teased. "If it wasn't for me, you two would've never even met."

Namjoon pointed at him without denying it.

"Of course I should thank you. Without you, we probably would've remained complete strangers."

Jungkook frowned in confusion as his eyes moved between the two.

"Wait..."He looked at Namjoon. "What do you mean you met because of Jimin?"

Namjoon smiled, remembering those days.

"Jimin had some document work with Professor David, but he couldn't go because of his hospital schedule, so he asked me to deliver everything instead. I went there expecting to meet Professor David..."

He laughed to himself. "...but Jin came instead."

"I still remember thinking..." Namjoon shook his head. "Who is this handsome guy?"

Jimin laughed loudly. "You never told me that part."

"I was embarrassed." Namjoon rolled his eyes before continuing. "We exchanged numbers because we thought we might need to contact each other regarding those documents. After that... we started talking once in a while."

"Once in a while?" Jimin interrupted.;"You both used to talk every single day... Even in hospital.. some patients even used to ask me if this man can stay without talking with his partner"

"Fine... every day." Namjoon admitted l.

"We remained in the talking stage for almost a year. Then he came to Korea, we met properly for the first time..."

He scratched the back of his neck.

"I was so nervous that day. I don't even remember half of what I said. But somehow..." His smile softened. "I still gathered enough courage to confess. And he accepted."

Even after saying it aloud, Namjoon still looked like someone reliving that moment.

"Fuck..."nHe laughed under his breath.

"I still remember how happy I was that day."

"Since then..." he continued, "it's been a long-distance relationship. We only managed to meet once... maybe twice a year."

Jungkook let out a dramatic sigh.

"Oh my God..." He shook his head. "Your entire friend group has ridiculously good love stories."

Then something suddenly came to his mind. "It's been a long time since I saw Taehyung."

"He's been busy lately," Jimin answered. "Hospital has been keeping him occupied."

Namjoon nodded before another idea suddenly crossed his mind.

"Since almost everyone is coming back..."

He looked around at both brothers.

"Why don't we go camping again?"

Jimin immediately looked at him. "Camping?"

"Yeah." Namjoon smiled. "Like old times. This time Jin can come too. Aura, Kevin... everyone. It has been years since all of us spent time together. Yoongi is here as well."

For a moment... The three of them quietly imagined it.

How memorable their last camping was. For Jimin it was more memorable because there in forest Yoongi confessed to him thinking Jimin is sleeping.

"What an idea, hyung," Jimin said without even thinking. "I'm in."

Namjoon immediately narrowed his eyes. "Park Jimin..."

He folded his arms.

"Are you the same person who used to reject every single plan before anyone could even finish explaining it?"

Before Jimin could answer, Jungkook leaned toward Namjoon and lightly tapped his shoulder.

"Hyung..." He lowered his voice dramatically before winking.

"Try to understand him. Our Jimin just wants to spend time with his Yoon now."

Jimin instantly looked at Jungkook trying to shut him while making a serious face.

"I was just saying yes..."

He tried to defend himself despite the warmth creeping onto his ears.

"You really don't have to tease me every single time."

It was already afternoon.

Today was Yoongi's very first day as the hospital's director, and instead of remaining in his office, he had decided to personally inspect every department before settling into his new position.

Well there was no reason ofcourse not after he saw Jimin and namjoon hugging.

The news had spread through the hospital long before he even arrived.

Nurses hurried from one station to another, making sure every report was in place while junior doctors quietly checked patient files one last time. Some were excited to finally meet the young director everyone had been talking about, while others couldn't help feeling nervous, wondering whether he would be strict, impossible to satisfy, or surprisingly easygoing.

Meanwhile...

The person responsible for all the commotion walked through the hospital corridors with an unreadable expression, both hands tucked inside the pockets of his white coat as the vice director and a few senior doctors accompanied him, introducing one department after another.

"This is the Pediatrics Department, sir."

Yoongi gave a small nod before exchanging a few words with the doctors. He asked about patient capacity, listened to their monthly report, looked around once, and then continued walking without wasting much time.

Orthopedics.

He greeted everyone politely, glanced through the treatment rooms, asked two or three formal questions, then moved on.

General Surgery.

Neurology.

Radiology.

Everything was going exactly according to schedule.

Until...

They reached Cardiology.

The vice director stopped outside before speaking, "This is our Cardiology Department. Dr. Park Jimin is the head cardiologist here."

The moment Yoongi stepped inside...

His eyes instinctively searched for only one person.

He found him almost immediately.

Jimin was standing near the nurses' station with a patient's file in his hand, calmly explaining something to a junior doctor. His sleeves were neatly folded to his elbows, his stethoscope rested around his neck, and every word he spoke carried the confidence of someone who had spent years doing this job. He was so focused on teaching that he didn't even notice the group entering.

The junior doctor nodded several times before leaving with the file.

Only then did Jimin lift his head. Their eyes met.

Jimin's expression didn't change.

He simply closed the patient's file before walking toward them and giving a polite nod.

"Good afternoon, Director Min."

The title almost made Yoongi smirk. This is what he wanted hear.

He cleared his throat and answered with the same professional tone.

"Good afternoon, Dr. Park."

The vice director looked between them with satisfaction before proudly saying, "Dr. Park is one of our best cardiologists. Many patients specifically request appointments with him."

Jimin immediately shook his head.

"I'm just doing my job."

Yoongi looked at him for a brief moment before replying, "I've heard a lot about your work."

Oh yeah acting like he doesn't know me.

"Thank you."

A short, professional answer..

The vice director assumed the inspection would end there just like every other department.

Instead...

Yoongi slowly looked around the entire floor.

"I'd like to inspect everything."

The vice director blinked. "Everything, sir?"

"Yes."

Then he turned toward Jimin. "If you don't mind, Dr. Park."

Jimin already knew what he was doing. He wanted to get on his nerves.

Still...

Jimin gestured ahead without arguing.

"This way."

For the next forty minutes, Jimin personally showed him every single section of the cardiology department.

The consultation rooms.
The patient wards.
The monitoring unit.
The emergency response area.
The catheterization laboratory.
The equipment storage.

Every time Jimin thought the inspection was finally over...

Another question came.

"What is the average emergency response time?"

"How many surgeries are performed monthly?"

"When was this monitor last upgraded?"

"What protocol do you follow during midnight emergencies?"

The vice director quietly glanced at his watch.

They had barely spent five minutes in every other department.

It had almost been an hour inside cardiology.

Finally, after another explanation, Yoongi casually looked around before speaking in an almost disappointed voice.

"Dr. Park... you've been working here for five years in this hospital."

He paused deliberately.

"Still not impressive."

Several nurses lowered their heads.

Even they could tell that wasn't an inspection anymore.

Jimin slowly folded his arms across his chest before looking straight into Yoongi's eyes.

"I don't do my work to impress someone."

Yoongi's lips almost curved.

"But most people try very hard to impress their director."

"I'm different from most people."

Jimin didn't even hesitate.

"You know that better than anyone."

For a second... Neither of them looked away.

The vice director suddenly felt like he was interrupting something he didn't understand.

Yoongi finally broke the silence.

"I'd like to inspect your cabin as well."

Jimin almost rolled his eyes. "...It's not even related to the inspection."

"It is now."

Without waiting for another reply, Jimin opened the cabin door and walked inside.

Yoongi followed. The moment he entered...

His eyes quietly wandered around the room.

There it was.

The chick mug. The chick plushie. The cat earphone holder.
The pen he had gifted years ago.
The whole coat pen holder.

Even the small decorative items he once insisted Jimin keep on his desk were still exactly where he had imagined them.

His gaze lingered over every single one before he slowly looked back at Jimin.

He deliberately kept a straight face.

"Hm..."

Jimin narrowed his eyes. "What?"

Yoongi looked around once more before giving an unimpressed nod.

"Okay..."

Jimin let out a slow breath.

"This has absolutely nothing to do with hospital inspection."

Behind them, the vice director secretly checked his watch again.

Didn't we spend five minutes everywhere else...?

Why are we still here?

Outside the cabin, even a few nurses exchanged confused looks.

"Is Director Min planning to work in cardiology from now on?"

"I don't know..."

"It's almost been an hour."

"I've never seen anyone inspect one department this seriously."

Meanwhile...

Taehyung had just finished checking on one of his patients when he noticed the unusually large crowd still standing near cardiology.

He frowned.

Why are they still here?

Curious, he walked over.

"The inspection isn't over yet?" he asked.

The vice director sighed helplessly.

"I thought it would've ended an hour ago."

Taehyung wasn't surprised at all.

Years ago, Jimin had already explained everything to him.

He knew exactly why Yoongi was behaving like this.

As he stood there watching the scene, he suddenly felt someone tap his shoulder.

Turning around, he found Namjoon standing behind him.

"Namjoon hyung... you came?"

Namjoon nodded before looking toward the cardiology cabin.

"Still going on?"

Taehyung laughed under his breath.

"Jimin has been answering questions for almost an hour, and somehow Yoongi still finds new ones."

Namjoon folded his arms.

"He didn't even spend two minutes in my department."

Taehyung immediately nodded.

"Same here. He walked into my department, looked around once, didn't ask me a single question, then left."

Namjoon chuckled. "I guess cardiology is special. "

"Ofcourse, Cardiology is his heartbeat"

Just then...

The cabin door finally opened.

Yoongi and Jimin walked out together while everyone instinctively looked toward them.

Yoongi glanced at the file in his hand before speaking in a calm voice.

"Please improve the points I mentioned, Dr. Park."

Then he looked directly at Jimin.

"I'll inspect your department again next week."

"...The director simply likes cardiology more." Taehyung muttered quietly.

Namjoon heard it. So did a few nearby nurses. Several of them immediately lowered their heads, trying very hard not to laugh.

Yoongi was about to continue toward the next department when his eyes suddenly landed on Taehyung.

They hadn't met yesterday.

Taehyung smiled politely before extending his hand.

"Good afternoon, Director Min."

Yoongi briefly shook his hand.

"Good afternoon."

That was all. Taehyung was a little surprised that the Yoongi he met years ago was different from the man he met just now.

Then he continued walking toward the elevators with the vice director following behind him.

The moment he disappeared around the corner, Taehyung turned toward Jimin with an amused smile.

"Dr. Park." Taehyung called purposely because they never refer each other formally.

Jimin looked at him.

"Yes, Dr. Kim?"

Taehyung crossed his arms.

"At this point... I think Director Min is going to shift his office to the cardiology floor."

Jimin stared at him for a second before silently shaking his head.

"I wouldn't even be surprised anymore."

"Why would you be surprised? You are enjoying aren't you?" Namjoon asked and Taehyung laughed.

It was already evening.

Yoongi was walking through the long hospital passage when his eyes automatically drifted toward the familiar corner near the cafeteria. Just as he expected, the trio was there again.

Namjoon, Taehyung and Jimin were sitting around the small table with coffee cups in their hands, talking about something so seriously that it would probably end in another pointless argument within the next five minutes.

Some habits really never change.

A faint smile almost appeared on Yoongi's lips before his attention shifted elsewhere.

Someone was walking toward them from the opposite side of the corridor.

The moment Yoongi saw their faces, his steps unconsciously slowed.

"Jin hyung... Aura... and Uncle David?"

His eyebrows knitted together in confusion.

What are they doing here...?

Before he could walk toward them, someone suddenly came from behind Namjoon and covered both of his eyes with his hands.

Yoongi couldn't hear what they were saying from this distance. He only saw Namjoon trying to remove the hands while guessing the person's identity, making Taehyung and Jimin laugh at whatever was happening.

A few seconds later, the hands moved away.

Namjoon immediately turned around.
The moment he saw who it was... His entire expression changed.

Shock. Pure disbelief spread across his face before, without wasting even another second, he pulled the other person into a tight hug, wrapping both arms around him as if he couldn't believe he was actually standing there.

The hug lasted longer than an ordinary greeting.

Long enough for Yoongi to realize... This wasn't someone Namjoon simply knew.

This was someone important.

Yoongi stood rooted to the same spot, quietly watching the scene unfold from a distance.

They know each other...?

His gaze moved between Namjoon and the man in confusion.

Since when...?
