JIMIN'S POV
"This..." he asked while looking straight into my eyes, "...was my reward?"
A playful smile slowly appeared on his lips. "Or..." He leaned a little closer.
"...is there something more waiting for me?"
I never thought in my life he would ask me something like this.
Somewhere inside me, I always thought he didn't like it when I kissed him out of nowhere. I thought maybe he just accepted it because it was me. But the moment he asked me that question, every unnecessary doubt disappeared. I was sure now... he didn't regret that kiss even a little.
Just like me.
I looked into his eyes but couldn't say a single word.
I honestly didn't know how I got jealous. I never even knew I was the jealous type because I had never cared about these things before. But today... seeing all those girls cheering for him, watching one of them kneel in front of him, seeing everyone surrounding him and congratulating him... then that hug...
Everything happened right in front of my eyes.
That strange burning feeling inside my chest...
I had never felt something like that before.
And I never wanted to feel it again.
I didn't want to ignore him. I knew how much he hated being ignored. Yet... I hated myself for one thing.
Whenever my emotions became too much for me to handle, I stopped talking first. Only to regret it later.
"You aren't replying to me?" His voice pulled me out of my thoughts.
I blinked a few times before realizing I had once again started thinking instead of answering him.
"You'll know tomorrow," I finally replied.
He didn't ask anything else. He simply nodded his head.
Instead of letting go of me, he buried his face against my stomach. Since one of his arms was already wrapped around my waist, he hugged me a little tighter before comfortably closing his eyes.
I looked down at him.
"Didn't you say you wanted to study?" I reminded him.
He lazily lifted his face only for two seconds. His sleepy eyes met mine before he quietly buried his face against me again as if lifting his head itself required too much effort.
"No..." His voice came out muffled. "I'm sleepy now."
I couldn't stop myself from shaking my head. "I'm letting you off only because you're tired after today's match."
I paused on purpose. "Otherwise..."
"Yes, sir." He answered before I could even finish.
A small smile escaped my lips. "You don't even know what I was going to say."
"I know enough." He replied so confidently that it made me chuckle.
"Now sleep properly."
Instead of listening, he tightened his arm around my waist.
"Can't I sleep like this?"
He looked up at me again.
Those puppy eyes... Sometimes I wondered if he knew how dangerous they were.
"You're a grown-ass man now." I gently pushed his shoulder. "Get up."
A small smirk slowly appeared on his face. It wasn't his usual innocent smile. There was something different about it. I never saw this look on his face before.
"So..." He looked straight into my eyes.
"You finally accept I'm a grown-up man... not a kid anymore?"
For a second, I genuinely didn't know what to answer. "I mean..."
The words refused to come out.
"No matter how much you grow," I finally said, trying to save myself, "you still can't change the fact that I'm older than you."
I looked at him proudly. Somehow... I felt like I had won.
But he simply smiled. "And who wants to change that?"
His voice became softer. "I like the way you're older than me.I like the way you take care of me."
His words made me forget what I was even trying to prove. Without realizing it, my fingers slowly slipped into his hair again as always.
I quietly brushed a few strands away from his forehead before running my fingers through them.
Somehow... Touching his hair had become my habit that I do it unknowingly now.
"What if..." I asked while still playing with his hair, "...one day you find someone younger than me?"
I looked at him. "Someone cooler than me?"
"There is no way." He answered without thinking. "No one is cooler than you. And honestly..." He smiled. "I hate people of my age."
I shook my head. "I see... So that's why people your age keep proposing to you."
I tried to sound casual. I failed miserably. The jealousy was obvious even to my own ears.
He slowly moved a little closer. "So..."
A teasing smile appeared on his lips. "Are you jealous, Heartbeat?"
I immediately looked away. "Me and jealous?" I scoffed. "Never."
"Hmm..." He dragged the sound as if he clearly didn't believe me.
I cleared my throat before pointing towards the bed. "Now get up before I get mad."
This time he didn't tease me anymore.
He immediately let go of me, lay down properly on the bed and pulled the blanket over himself.
Sometimes he behaved like the biggest troublemaker.
And sometimes... He became the most obedient person in the world...
Just because I was the one asking him.
A small smile found its way onto my lips as I looked at him lying quietly under the blanket. Just a few seconds ago, he had been stubbornly refusing to let go of me, and now he was already pretending to sleep.
I was about to turn off the lights when something suddenly came to my mind. "By the way..."
The moment those words left my mouth, his eyes instantly opened.
I couldn't help smiling at his reaction.
"Weren't you sleepy?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I was," he replied innocently, "but you called me."
As expected. If I called him, he would always answer.
"No, I just wanted to tell you something."
He adjusted himself on the bed before looking at me with curiosity. "What is it?"
"Be ready tomorrow evening."
He frowned slightly. "Why?"
I folded my arms across my chest, purposely refusing to answer.
"Because there's a surprise waiting for you."
His eyes immediately lit up. "What surprise?"
"You'll know tomorrow." I said.
"Just one hint?" Again this puppy eyes.
"No." I shook my head.
"Heartbeat..." Whenever he call me heartbeat. I lose it everytime.
"No."
He let out a dramatic sigh before lying back down. "Fine."
"I'll wait."
I smiled to myself before switching off the bedside lamp. "Good."
"Now close your eyes."
This time, without arguing anymore, he obediently closed them again, probably already trying to guess what surprise I was planning for him.
The next day started surprisingly well.
For the first time in what felt like forever, nothing unexpected happened throughout the day. The OPD wasn't overcrowded, no emergency cases came in during my shift and even the ward rounds finished on time.
I couldn't stop looking at the clock every few minutes.nA small smile kept appearing on my face without any reason.
Finally... I looked at my wristwatch once again.
6:00 PM.
I was done.
I immediately took off my gloves and placed the patient's file on the counter.
"Finally..." I muttered under my breath, unable to hide my happiness.
I had promised him. And this time... I was actually going to make it home on time.
Just as I was about to remove my apron..
"Code Blue!"
The announcement echoed through the entire floor.
Within seconds, the peaceful atmosphere of the hospital disappeared.
Doctors and nurses immediately began running towards the emergency department.
I closed my eyes for a brief moment. "Fuck..."
I whispered under my breath before instinctively turning around and running with everyone else.
One of the nurses spotted me in the corridor.
"Dr. Park!" she called while running beside me. "Trauma patient. Road traffic accident."
I nodded and increased my pace.
The moment I entered the emergency room, Namjoon hyung was already standing beside the patient, calmly giving instructions while Taehyung hurriedly pulled on a fresh pair of sterile gloves.
The patient looked to be somewhere in his forties. His clothes were soaked in blood. Half of his shirt had already turned dark red. He was unconscious, his breathing irregular.
"Blood pressure is dropping," one of the nurses announced. "Heart rate one-forty."
The cardiac monitor continued beeping rapidly.
"Prepare two units of O negative," Namjoon hyung ordered without taking his eyes off the patient.
"IV line secured," I reported after checking the cannula.
He gave a short nod "Good."
"Tae, FAST ultrasound."
Taehyung immediately moved to the patient's side.
The room fell silent for a few seconds.
"There is internal bleeding." His voice became serious.
Namjoon hyung didn't hesitate. "We're taking him to the OT."
Everything happened almost automatically after that. Stretchers moved. Nurses prepared medications.
Consent forms were rushed through.
No one wasted time asking unnecessary questions.
The three of us had worked together for years. We already knew each other's next step before anyone spoke.
The operation theatre doors closed behind us. For the next two hours...
The only sounds inside the OT were the rhythmic beeping of the monitor, metal instruments touching the tray and Namjoon hyung's calm voice giving short instructions.
"Suction."
"Clamp."
"More gauze."
"Sutures."
Nobody spoke unless it was necessary. Every second mattered.
Finally... The monitor settled into a steady rhythm.
The bleeding had stopped.
A heavy silence filled the operating theatre before everyone unconsciously let out the breath they had been holding.
Namjoon hyung slowly removed his gloves and looked around the room. "Good work." Only two words. Yet hearing those words from him after a difficult surgery always felt rewarding.
A tired smile appeared on my face.
The three of us stepped out of the operation theatre together.
I pulled off my surgical cap before absentmindedly running a hand through my damp hair.
Taehyung stretched both shoulders with a groan.
"I seriously need somthing to eat." Without waiting for either of us, he walked towards the doctors' lounge.
Namjoon hyung looked at his watch before smiling faintly. "Five minutes."
He slipped his hands into the pockets of his coat, "Then we're back to work."
The smile on my face disappeared almost instantly. Namjoon hyung noticed it immediately. "What happened?"
I looked down at the watch still strapped around my wrist.
8:03 PM.
Two hours... Two whole hours had disappeared.
I quietly sighed.
"I was about to leave."
Namjoon hyung followed my gaze towards the watch before looking back at me. "Something important?"
For a few seconds... I didn't know what to answer. How was I supposed to explain it?
Managing personal life and this profession together...
Sometimes it felt impossible. I had promised him. He must be waiting for me by now.
Before I could say anything-
"Dr. Park." A nurse hurriedly walked towards me while holding a patient's file. "Could you please visit the patient in Room 312? He's been complaining of severe pain since the last assessment."
I closed my eyes for a brief second before opening them again.
"...I'll be there."
The nurse nodded and walked away.
I looked at the file in my hands before letting out a helpless sigh.
Looks like... Going home would have to wait a little longer.
AUTHOR'S POV
Yoongi had been roaming around the living room for almost two hours.
Every few minutes he would look at the wall clock, then at the main door, then walk towards the window before coming back again. He couldn't sit still even if he wanted to.
He was already ready.
The same red jersey he had worn yesterday, only with a different pattern, hugged his frame perfectly. He had paired it with baggy black jeans, white sneakers and a watch around his wrist. Even his long hair had been carefully styled after spending far more time in front of the mirror than he would ever admit.
"Hyung..." Jungkook called from the couch where he was comfortably sitting with his phone. "Please sit down. You're making me tired just by looking at you."
Yoongi stopped walking and looked at him. "I am sitting."
"I can see..." Jungkook glanced at the clock dramatically. "Someone is so excited."
Yoongi sighed before looking at his wristwatch once again.
It was already eight.
"He said he'll be ready by six," Yoongi murmured, more to himself than to Jungkook. "He even reminded me this morning."
There wasn't any anger in his voice. Only disappointment mixed with worry.
A few seconds later, he shook his own head.
"There must be an emergency at the hospital. He wouldn't make me wait without a reason."
Jungkook nodded. "Exactly."
Just then, the front door suddenly opened. "I'm sorry!"
Jimin rushed inside, breathing heavily as if he had run all the way home.
His hair was completely messy, and there were tiny drops of sweat near his forehead.
"I got stuck at the hospital." He looked directly at Yoongi. "I'm really sorry."
Before anyone could reply, he pointed upstairs. "Give me five minutes."
Without waiting for an answer, he hurried towards the bedroom.
Yoongi watched him disappear upstairs before a small smile unknowingly appeared on his face.
"See?" Jungkook nudged him with his elbow. "I told you."
Yoongi simply smiled.
Upstairs, Jimin rushed straight into the bathroom.
He barely spent two minutes under the shower before quickly drying himself and opening his wardrobe.
"I don't have time..."
His eyes hurriedly searched through the clothes until they stopped on a loose cream shirt hanging at the side.
"Good enough."
He quickly paired it with black pants before buttoning the shirt in a hurry.
The top few buttons remained open without him even realizing it.
Just as he was about to leave, his eyes landed on the silver chain lying on the table.
He quickly wore it.
Then his gaze shifted towards his glasses.
"...These too."
After wearing them, he looked at himself in the mirror for barely two seconds.
"Done."
True to his words...
Within five minutes, he was already downstairs.
Jungkook looked up from the couch and blinked.
"You're quick."
Jimin picked up his car keys, stuffing phone in pockets.
"I told you."
Jungkook burst into laughter. "I can't even finish pooping in five minutes."
A loud smack landed on his shoulder.
"Ouch!"
He dramatically rubbed the spot before glaring at Yoongi. "What? I was just telling the truth."
Yoongi ignored him completely. His entire attention had already shifted towards Jimin.
For a brief moment... He forgot to blink. The loose cream shirt rested perfectly on Jimin's body, the slightly open buttons exposing a part of his collarbone while the silver chain rested against his skin. Combined with the black pants and glasses, the simple outfit somehow made him look effortlessly handsome.

Yoongi had seen Jimin in hospital coats... Casual shirt... Even pajamas.
But... Never like this.
Without realizing it, he kept staring.
At the same time, Jimin's eyes slowly travelled towards Yoongi.
The moment he saw the jersey... A smile appeared on his lips.
Just yesterday he had casually told Yoongi that he looked handsome in a jersey.
Today... Yoongi had worn another one.
Jimin didn't know whether it was a coincidence or not.

But for some reason... The sight made him smile a little more.
Jungkook looked at the two of them before dramatically clicking his tongue.
"You both seriously look good." He waved his hand towards the door. "Now stop staring at each other and leave already."
Jimin looked away first before walking towards Yoongi.
Without saying anything, he naturally held Yoongi's hand.
"Let's go."
Yoongi quietly intertwined their fingers.
"...Yeah."
Jimin quietly drove through the city while Yoongi sat beside him, looking out of the window every now and then before stealing glances at Jimin.
He still had no idea where they were going.
He had already asked twice before leaving the house, but Jimin had refused to tell him anything. The only answer he kept giving was, "It's a surprise."
Yoongi eventually gave up asking.
After a few minutes of silence, he turned his head to look at Jimin's side profile.
The street lights passing by reflected on his face one after another, making him look even calmer than usual.
"I honestly thought you wouldn't make it," Yoongi admitted.
Jimin let out a small laugh. "To be honest... I thought the same."
He kept his eyes on the road while speaking.
"Just when I was about to leave, an emergency case came in. I thought it would only take a few minutes, but three hours passed before I even realized it."
He shook his head helplessly. "Then another patient came... For a moment, I really thought I had to cancel everything."
Yoongi quietly listened without interrupting.
"But thankfully Namjoon hyung helped me."
A smile appeared on Jimin's face. "I told him I had already promised you a surprise today. He literally kicked me out."
Yoongi laughed, still shocked"He did?"
Jimin nodded. "He said, 'Go before you ruin your own surprise. I'll manage everything here.'"
He chuckled softly, remembering Namjoon's annoyed face. "So..."
He glanced at Yoongi for a brief second before looking back at the road. "...all thanks to Namjoon hyung that we're here."
Yoongi smiled without realizing it.
"Wait..."
A thought suddenly crossed his mind. He slowly turned towards Jimin. "Does Namjoon hyung..."
He hesitated for a moment. "...know about us?"
For a second, Jimin looked at him before nodding. "He knows."
That was all he said before focusing on driving again.
Yoongi couldn't stop the smile spreading across his face.
Somehow... It made him happy.
The car finally slowed down before stopping in front of a huge building covered with bright lights.
Yoongi looked outside the window.
Then his eyes slowly widened.
"A movie theatre?"
He immediately turned towards Jimin.
Jimin simply nodded.
The excitement written all over Yoongi's face was enough to tell him he had chosen the right surprise.
"You really brought me here?" There was genuine surprise in Yoongi's voice.
Jimin smiled. "Ofcourse."
Yoongi looked back at the theatre once again. "I've never watched a movie with someone before."
His voice became quieter.
"When I was a kid, my parents were always busy and never really allowed me to go out much."
A faint smile appeared on his lips. "And after that..."
He didn't complete the sentence. He didn't need to. Both of them knew what came after.
Jimin silently looked at him for a few seconds before getting out of the car.
He walked around and opened the passenger door himself. "Then..." He looked straight into Yoongi's eyes. "I'm glad to be your first."
Yoongi's heart skipped for a moment. Jimin slowly got out of the.
"You already are." Yoongi smiled thinking, "My first... in almost everything."
Jimin simply smiled before gently closing the car door.
"Come on. The movie will start."
An hour and a half passed before they finally walked out of the theatre.
It was already close to ten at night.
People continued walking around them, discussing the movie while the cool night breeze brushed against their faces.
Jimin looked at Yoongi. "So..." He slipped both hands into his pockets. "Did you like it?"
Yoongi nodded immediately. "A lot."
A smile refused to leave his face. The movie had been good. But if he had to be honest...
His favourite part wasn't the movie at all.
It was the fact that he had spent the entire time secretly holding Jimin's hand in the darkness.
Jimin looked strangely satisfied with that answer. "Good."
He started walking again. "Now..." He deliberately paused. Yoongi immediately followed beside him. "Now what?"
Jimin looked ahead, trying to hide the smile forming on his lips. "You'll know."
"What do you mean you'll know?"
"Just wait, my nerdy boy." Jimin loved making suspense
"Heartbeat..." Yoongi whined.
"You'll know."
Yoongi sighed. "You seriously enjoy keeping me curious."
Jimin chuckled. "Maybe. But trust me..." He looked at Yoongi for a second before smiling. "The night isn't over yet."
About ten minutes later, the car slowly came to a stop in front of a beautifully lit restaurant.
Jimin parked the car before switching off the engine.
For a moment, neither of them moved.
Yoongi looked through the window before turning towards Jimin.
"Dinner date?" he asked with a smile.
Jimin glanced at him before unfastening his seat belt.
"Dinner date after a movie date," he corrected with a faint smile.
Yoongi couldn't stop smiling as he got out of the car.
The two of them walked inside together.
The restaurant was elegant, far more expensive than the places Jimin usually visited.
A waiter greeted them politely before leading them to a table that had already been reserved in the quiet corner of the restaurant.
Jimin pulled the chair back slightly, silently gesturing for Yoongi to sit first.
Once they settled down, Jimin picked up the menu and slid it across the table.
"Order whatever you want."
Yoongi didn't even open it.
He simply pushed it back towards Jimin.
"I love whatever you love," he said with a small smile. "You order. I'm terrible at deciding these things."
Jimin looked at him for a second before shaking his head with a quiet smile.
"You really trust me that much?"
"I do."
Without saying anything else, Jimin called the waiter and ordered a few dishes that he knew Yoongi would enjoy.
After the waiter left, Yoongi rested his chin on his hand while looking at Jimin.
"I never thought my reward would be this big," he admitted. "First a movie... and now this."
Jimin looked up from the table.
"It's the bare minimum."
"It doesn't feel like the bare minimum to me."
A comfortable silence settled between them until the food arrived.
The waiter carefully placed each dish on the table before wishing them a pleasant meal.
They quietly started eating.

After a few bites, Jimin looked up. "Enjoying it?"
Yoongi smiled. "More than anything."
He put his spoon down for a moment.
"I'm finally living the life I used to dream about."
Jimin looked at him, silently listening.
"There was a time when I stopped believing in God," Yoongi continued quietly. "I thought He had forgotten me. Every prayer returned unanswered. Every hope disappeared little by little until I convinced myself that heaven had gone silent."
He lowered his eyes for a brief moment before smiling to himself.
"But maybe... He wasn't ignoring me. Maybe He simply wasn't ready to give me what I kept asking for because He was saving something much bigger."
His eyes met Jimin's again. "I prayed for a family... He gave me you."
"I asked for a reason to keep moving forward... He gave me your hand to hold."
"And when my heart forgot how to believe..."
A gentle smile appeared on his lips.
"He let it stop for a moment... only so He could return it to me in the form of my heartbeat."
"You."
Jimin quietly looked at him without interrupting.
"Maybe miracles don't always fall from the sky," Yoongi said softly. "Sometimes they simply walk into your life... smile at you... and become the reason your heart remembers how to beat again."
For a few seconds, Jimin didn't know what to say.
A small smile slowly appeared on his face. "You chose the wrong profession."
Yoongi blinked. "Hm?"
"You should've become a writer..." Jimin chuckled. "...or maybe a motivational speaker."
He deliberately joked to lighten the atmosphere before he ended up becoming emotional himself.
Yoongi looked at him seriously. "So... You want me to change my profession?"
Jimin immediately pointed his fork towards him. "Hey." His tone carried a playful warning. "You better continue studying."
Yoongi laughed. "Yes, Doctor."
The conversation naturally drifted to random topics while they continued eating.
A few moments later, Jimin suddenly coughed softly after taking a bite of one of the dishes.
It was much spicier than he had expected. He instinctively reached for his water glass.
It was mpty.
He looked around, trying to find a waiter, but none of them were nearby.
Without thinking much, he picked up the glass placed in front of Yoongi and took a few quick sips.
Only after putting it back down did Yoongi quietly speak. "...That was my glass."
Jimin looked at him.
"I already drank from it." Yoongi finished.
"So?" Jimin shrugged as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "You say that like we haven't kissed."
Yoongi froze.
The tips of his ears immediately turned red before the blush spread across his entire face.
Jimin simply smiled to himself and continued eating as though he hadn't said anything embarrassing at all.
By the time dinner was over, both of them were completely full.
Jimin walked to the counter, paid the bill, and returned to Yoongi with the same calm expression on his face.
"Come on."
"It's getting late."
Yoongi happily stood up and followed him out of the restaurant.
After coming out of the restaurant, Jimin brought the car from the parking area and stopped it by the roadside.
Yoongi was already sitting inside on the passenger seat, absentmindedly looking outside through the window while waiting for him.
Just as Jimin was about to walk towards the driver's side, someone caught his attention.
A familiar figure was standing a little farther away under the streetlights.
"Namjoon hyung...?" Jimin frowned.
Namjoon looked unusually restless. One hand was pressed against his temple while the other kept rubbing his forehead over and over again. He wasn't even looking at the people passing by. It was obvious something was bothering him.
Jimin glanced at Yoongi inside the car before speaking. "Yoon, wait here. I'll be back."
Yoongi looked at him through the window and nodded. "Okay."
Jimin jogged towards Namjoon.
Namjoon was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even notice someone approaching him until a hand gently landed on his shoulder.
He flinched violently before turning around.
"Jimin...?" His eyes widened in surprise.
"What are you doing here?" Jimin asked, carefully observing his face. "Are you okay? You don't look well."
"I... I'm..." Namjoon struggled to form a sentence. "You... you're still here?"
The question sounded strange.
Jimin frowned in confusion. "What do you mean?"
Namjoon's eyes immediately started searching around the road as if he was looking for someone.
"Where's Yoongi?"
Jimin instinctively turned around. "He is in the-"
His words never reached the end. A deafening screech of tires tore through the night.
For a fraction of a second... Everything slowed down. Jimin watched a black car speeding towards his parked vehicle at an unbelievable speed.
"No...!"
BOOM!
The impact echoed through the entire street. The speeding car rammed directly into the passenger side with terrifying force.
Metal twisted. Glass exploded into thousands of sharp pieces.
The front half of Jimin's car crumpled as if it were nothing more than paper, the violent sound of crashing metal making everyone nearby scream.
Jimin instinctively covered his ears. His eyes remained fixed on the car.
He couldn't move. He couldn't breathe. Right in front of him... His car was being destroyed.
Smoke slowly rose into the air. Broken glass glittered across the road under the streetlights.
For one terrifying second... His mind went completely blank.
Then... A single thought struck him like lightning.
Yoongi...
His entire body started trembling.
Yoongi...
Yoongi had been sitting in the passenger seat.
"Yoon..."
The name escaped his lips in nothing more than a whisper.
His legs refused to move. His eyes slowly dropped toward the wreckage.
A crimson liquid came out from beneath the crushed passenger side, creeping across the asphalt inch by inch.
Blood.
Jimin's pupils shook violently.
"No..."
His breathing became uneven.
"No..."
This time his voice cracked.
Before anyone could stop him, he sprinted towards the wrecked car, his heart pounding so violently that it felt as though it would burst out of his chest.
"YOON!"
